    The emergence of graphite fossil oil coke is in recent years, although it is not a new product, it belongs to the existing graphite material. Because of its simple survival method and low survival cost, its emergence expands new uses. 

    First of all, Graphitized petroleum coke is the best carburizer for smelting. In steelmaking industry, to produce good steel, there must be good raw materials, including good carburizer, and graphitized petroleum coke is the best carburizer. 

    When there is no graphite fossil oil coke, because the leftover materials of graphite electrode are relatively few and the price is high, it not only increases the cost of steel making, but also restricts the development of iron and steel industry. The emergence of Graphitized petroleum coke breaks this bottleneck. 

    China's steel industry is developing by leaps and bounds, and the output of steel is the first in the world. In 2011, China's steel output was 683 million tons, and in 2012, 713 million tons. In the past, low-end non graphitized carburizing agent was generally used in domestic smelting industry. With the improvement of product quality and the need of upgrading, graphitized Coke will be used more and more in China. 

    According to conservative calculation, the annual consumption of 0.05% graphitized coke for steel smelting is 350000 tons.

    In recent years, the requirements of energy saving and emission reduction are higher and higher, and industrial furnaces are developing to large-scale, super large-scale and scientific and technological type. 

    Therefore, the performance requirements of large-scale cathode block, large-scale carbon electrode, graphitized electrode and electrode paste for its supporting service are also higher and higher. To manufacture large-scale cathode block, large-scale carbon electrode, graphitized electrode and electrode paste, it is necessary to add more graphite chips (by-product of processing graphite electrode). 

    Graphitized petroleum coke can partly replace graphite scrap, and the market demand is increasing year by year. From January to December 2012, the cumulative output of graphite and carbon products in China was 28.668 million tons (of which, if 10% graphitized petroleum coke was added to graphite and carbon products on average, it would be 2.86 million tons per year). 

    In 2012, China's output of graphite electrode which can produce broken graphite is 648000 tons, and the output of 7% broken graphite is 45360 tons. The amount of broken graphite is small, the cost is high and the price is high.

    Therefore, the development of graphite fossil oil coke has good business prospects. The output of carbon and graphite is used in the fields of pyrotechnic materials stabilizer in military industry, pencil lead in light industry, carbon brush in electrical industry, electrode in battery industry, catalyst additive in chemical fertilizer industry, etc. After deep processing, graphitized coke can obtain high-purity graphite, anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, graphite emulsion, graphite sealing materials and composites, graphite anti-wear additives, graphene and other high-tech products. In short, as raw materials, graphitized petroleum coke has broad applications and prospects.
